RESOLUTION OF THE
EATON COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY
Adopted May 16, 2019
Whereas, the conditions of Michigan roads continues to deteriorate, with the 22% of roads deemed to currently be in poor condition expected to increase to 44% in the next five years, and
Whereas, Michigan currently ranks 46th out of the 50 states in per capita spending on roads, and was in last place among our sister Great Lakes states, and
Whereas, many roads and bridges are becoming unsafe for use, and impede commerce, first responders and commuters, and
Whereas, the cost of repairs for damages done to our cars and trucks by poor roads has become intolerable, and
Whereas, the people of Michigan must look to themselves for a solution to this problem,
Now Therefore, the Eaton County Democratic Party hereby resolves to implore the Michigan Legislature to address the condition of our deteriorating roads and other critical infrastructure, and to devise and enact a plan adequate to resolve this problem.
Be It Further Resolved, that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to 71st District State Representative Angela Witwer, 65th District State Representative Sarah Lightner and 24th District State Senator Tom Barrett.
