For Immediate Release March 3, 2020 Contact: Arnold Weinfeld (email@example.com)
Arnold Weinfeld of Delta Township has announced his candidacy for Township Trustee in the 2020 election. Weinfeld has been a resident of Delta for over 30 and has been serving on the Township Planning Commission since 2016. He also served on the Waverly Community Schools Board of Education from 1994-2002 and was an original member of the Waverly Education Foundation having served on that board for 20 years. More recently, he worked with others to establish the Delta Senior Council.
“Since becoming a resident of Delta I have always looked to be an active participant in the community as has my family. My two daughters are graduates of Waverly Community Schools and my wife Colleen is on the Delta Township District Library. Throughout my career I have prided myself in connecting with others and collaborating on matters that result in positive outcomes”, Weinfeld said.
I have four priority areas for our community…
1) Public Safety – our police and fire personnel deserve the best. Our substation is subpar for a community our size and our fire fighters have been without a contract for two years. Both areas must be addressed.
2) Economic Development – the Saginaw Corridor, our most visible and highly trafficked retail and commercial corridor, needs attention. In the center is the Lansing Mall which, like many malls across the country, needs redevelopment. I pledge to work with residents, our business community, mall owners and local officials on a plan of action.
3) Infrastructure – It is time for Delta to be intentional about improving our assets whether it be our sewer and water system, which needs upgrades, or our township hall and community centers.
4) Quality of Life amenities – Delta has been fortunate over the course of time to develop a wonderful system of parks and begin development of trails and pathways. More of the Grand River runs through Delta than any other community in our region. We must take care of what we have and look for ways to improve and connect these systems
“I look forward to the opportunity to ensure Delta Township’s position in our area as a premier place to live, work and play through effective and efficient use of taxpayer dollars while continuing to improve our tax base in an equitable manner”
